Culinary and Hospitality Opportunities Program (CHOP)
CHOP prepares adults with varying abilities for real careers in the culinary and hospitality industry. Over 16 weeks, trainees build hands-on kitchen skills, earn ServSafe Certification, and develop the workplace confidence needed to succeed on the job.
Trainees learn to use professional kitchen equipment, prepare breakfast, lunch, and dinner dishes, follow and convert recipes, and present food with care and creativity. Alongside technical training, group discussions cover interviewing skills, workplace etiquette, communicating with supervisors, and managing stress on the job, giving trainees a well-rounded foundation for employment.
Classes meet Monday through Thursday, 3:30 PM – 6:30 PM, with an additional week for skill reinforcement and job placement support. CHOP runs three times a year, with up to 5 trainees per session, giving more members the chance to graduate with real-world experience and a nationally recognized credential in hand.
